Tip #12- Avoiding Diamonds Altogether:

Solitaire Sapphire Engagement Ring

We have many customers who, for a variety of reasons, are not interested in having diamonds in their engagement rings. Some just don’t want the look of diamonds and in those cases, a solitaire ring is the best choice. A solitaire ring doesn’t have to be boring either. You can consider a ring style with a more ornate or engraved band. Or go bold with a wider band that has a bezel set gemstone at the center. Bezel setting is a great option if you have a very active lifestyle and want to protect the gemstone. You could even consider a ‘solitaire’ ring that incorporates both of your birthstones. Solitaire rings can be done with any shape gemstone. Princess, round and oval are the most popular as solitaires, but don’t overlook marquise, heart, emerald and radiant cut stones as well.

Another way to avoid diamonds is the substitute the diamonds in the ring you like with white sapphires or synthetic stones like cubic zirconia. These stones will give you the look of diamonds. MyJewelrySource offers a few gemstone engagement rings that are solitaire rings and some additional past present future engagement rings done with gemstones and white sapphires.

The most affordable gemstones are some of the semi precious gemstones including amethyst, blue topaz, citrine, and garnet. Other semi precious gemstones which generally price just a little higher are peridot, aquamarine, tourmaline and blue zircon. Tanzanite is a step up from there. Gemstone prices are directly related to the rarity of the gemstone. The most expensive gemstone rings would include rubies and emeralds with various shades of sapphire right behind.

If she likes to make a statement and often wears bold, eye catching rings, then take a closer look at our gemstone engagement rings with larger center stones, wide bands, or ones that are simply dripping in diamonds. The most popular sizes for the gemstones in a gemstone engagement ring are 1 to 2 carats.

A gemstone engagement ring is like a piece of art, and it does require a certain amount of care. Really all you need to use is common sense. For example, even though you may want to put the ring on and never give it another thought, it is better not to wear your gemstone engagement ring taking a shower, doing housework, or working in the garden, for example. Your ring will stay cleaner and newer looking if you are more careful with it. If you do decide that it’s easier for your lifestyle to wear the engagement ring all of the time, just be sure to clean it regularly. Pay particular attention to the underside of the gemstone and diamonds since this is where most of the dirt and grime tends to accumulate.

Also it is a good idea to have your setting checked regularly. The more wear and tear and the more active the lifestyle, the more of a chance you may have that a stone may be damaged or fall out. Settings can loosen over time with normal wear and tear. Some of the more delicate gemstone engagement ring styles, with lots of tiny diamonds or a light metal weight, do require more care and thought. But don’t let that discourage you! Some of the most beautiful rings we offer are either delicate or are done with lots of diamonds. If the workmanship is exceptional, what you would expect for an engagement ring, then for the most part, no matter what your lifestyle, you will have very few, if any, issues with your ring.

The halo style is another popular design which features at least one single row of stones (generally diamonds) surrounding the center stone. It is most common to have a single row but we offer a few designs with that added wow factor of two or three rows of diamonds around the center. Halo rings can be done with micropave set diamonds (very small and very close together) or larger diamonds for a more substantial look. In general, the larger the diamond, the bigger the sparkle. But with fine quality, closely set smaller diamonds, there can be tremendous sparkle without bordering on gaudy or too cocktail-like.

This brings us to the last category of gemstone engagement ring style which would be cocktail. These rings generally have large diamonds or a lot of them and the sparkle factor is off the charts. If you really want to be noticed, a cocktail ring is certainly an obvious choice.

With any ring style though, if it is made with fine quality gemstones, we can promise that you will get plenty of attention. You can take a moment to read our testimonials to see what our customers have said about our rings.
